The GALLIANO ROYAL series by SImon Procter is based on the italian renaisance painter Paolo Uccellos work the Battle of San Romano , this triptych of battle scenes called the battle of Romano is held in the Louvre (Paris), the National Gallery (London) and Galleria degli Uffizi (Florence). The series represents an historical celebration of 10 years of Gallianos' stunnning work of Haute Couture at Christian Dior. Working with the Creator John Galliano himself, the famous art Director Stephen Gan of Visionaire NYC and Stylist Nicola Formenchetti, DIOR agreed to open their haute couture museum archives. The Editor of Harpers Bazaar, Glenda Bailey comissoned the shoot. Which represented many weeks of work and a team of over 40 people. The post production took over 6 months with an estimated cost of half a million dollars. It is to this date one of the most ambitious non commercial projects of its kind.
The first presentation of the work was at In Fashion Photo Maimi Basel December 2008, curated by Patrick Remy. The principle edition of Galliano Royal No.1 was sold out within 14 months. The work has since been shown in many Galleries, exhibitions and museums worldwide to great acclaim.
The work is offered for sale in several different editions. The two larger formats are produced on canvas and are of epic proportions with extensive painting and glazing by the artist often with addition of gold leaf. These render the pieces unique and are much sought after by collectors.
